My Life, My Way Training Programme Year One

Hi,

The first year of our training programme My Life, My Way is nearly over. We can't believe it! The time has passed really quickly. Over 277 people have come along to our courses on everything from supervising staff to risk enablement. Thank you.

If you took part in our training, we want to hear what you thought of the programme and what has changed for you as a result. We have designed a very short survey to find out what you think. It will take less than a minute to complete.

If you complete the survey before 31 March 2013, we will enter your name into a free prize draw. You can win some fab prizes like an MP4 player, a panini maker or a remote control car!

To take the short survey, please click here.

By doing this, you will leave the VIAS website. To come back, please click on the arrow at the top of the screen that looks like this

A Call To All Members

Values Into Action Scotland (VIAS) has been extremely successful over the last five years since it started as a sister company to Values Into Action (VIA).

As it has grown this has brought increased responsibility for the committee and directors of the company and it is very important that we closely manage,  monitor and guide its direction.  We have been considering these challenges since the AGM and are looking at ways to:-

  1. Increase the participation of the membership and people we exist to support.
  2. Make sure we are fulfilling our obligations as trustees/directors to make sure the company is following our constitution and charity law.
  3. Manage the company as well as we can.
  4. Agree what is an appropriate structure for the company to undertake all the work we have been funded to do by the Government.

One of the things we are doing at the moment is looking at the constitution, with the intention to simplify it and bring it up-to-date. If we do decide to recommend that it be changed, that will require an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), where the proposal will be voted on.

In the meantime if you have any ideas or thoughts on changes you would like to see I’d be grateful if you can send them to me.

Pat's Petition - Time Is Running Out!

Pat's Petition now has 45,434 signatures which is wonderful and we thank you all. If we don't achieve 100,000 signatures by 1 November 2012, all of your efforts will have been in vain as we will not get our parliamentary debate. There are estimated to be 120,000 people with learning difficulties in Scotland and around 50,000 people who are on the autistic spectrum. If just one person or family member signs this petition, we will smash our target!

Stop and review the cuts to benefits and services which are falling disproportionately on disabled people, their carers and families. Who can disagree with this? Please do everything that you can to share this and reach our target.

Thank you.

You can sign the petition by clicking the picture at the top of the screen or by clicking here.

By doing this, you will leave the VIAS website. To come back, please click on the button at the top of your screen that looks like this
